In Drohobych, on the basis of gymnasium No. 5 named after Hero of Ukraine S. Kulchytsky, with the funds of the International Renaissance Fund (Sweden) eco-activists are implementing an environmental project - a public sorting station "Dro.Eko.Logicnychny". The project is implemented by public organizations "BERY and SLAV" (m. Berislav, Kherson region) and "Breakthrough City" (Drohobych) together with the management of the gymnasium. Today, in the premises of the Action Center, representatives of public organizations presented the project to local media in the format of a press conference.
It should be noted, that both NGOs have been implementing environmental initiatives for a long time, are engaged in the popularization of the ecological approach in matters of waste disposal, encourage young people to develop the skills of proper sorting of solid waste.
GO "BERY i SLAV" moved to Drohobych with the beginning of the war and continued its activities here. As Natalya Starodubets, the head of the board of the organization, told, in the first days of their stay in Drohobych, the people of Berislav were engaged in providing aid, and then started writing grant projects. During this time, they managed to implement the "Youth Support Bank" project in our city: conducting various events (trainings, teaching) in the Youth Space of Drohobych. Another project concerned the development of a documentary regulatory framework. Further, by joining forces with the Drogobytsk NGO "Proryv-mysto", managed to win the competition for small grants from the International Renaissance Foundation.
As already mentioned above, will implement the project on the basis of gymnasium no 5. A former student of this educational institution, and today he is a well-known eco-activist in Drohobych, Svyatoslav Stepyak, a member of the NGO "Proryv-mysto" told the audience in more detail about the implementation of the project. Its purpose is to spread the culture of waste management among schoolchildren and citizens, who live in the area 5 schools, and later - on the territory of the city, communities and the country in general. Gymnasium No. 5 was chosen for a reason, because there are also internally displaced persons here, children from the "Oranta" orphanage are studying, there is a resource-inclusive center, and various sporting events are also often held. That is, not only schoolchildren come here, and this means, that different strata of the population can be involved in sorting culture.
"Dro.Eco.Logicny" provides for the establishment of a closed playground on the territory of the gymnasium with 16 plastic containers for different types of garbage and mini-containers in the school premises. To fully comply with the ecological concept, the site will be lit by solar energy, a solar panel will be installed for this.
The project also involves training, consultations, master classes, competitions, which will contribute to the formation of the skills of proper waste sorting.
Present at the event is the director of Gymnasium No 5 Vitaly Lesyk noted, who gladly agreed to work on this project and promised him full support.
The project will be implemented during 6 months, after which the performers report on its results.
