“It was not so easy to choose the winners, as it seemed, because there were many excellent works and the opinions of the jury differed. I wanted to give one prize to several at once. In the end, the winners were chosen by the number of votes“, Svyatoslav Stepyak noted.

The sorting area will be equipped in June

The competition at Drohobytskyi Gymnasium No. 5 took place within the framework of the project to create a sorting station near the school. Svyatoslav Stepyak says, that from April they will begin to equip the station and the platform. Most likely, will finish work in June.

“We have a place on the street near the gymnasium, we have already chosen the materials and roughly calculated the budget. The head of the education department, Vitalii Vovkiv, promised to help us financially. We plan to teach high school students how to sort waste, so that they then set an example to the younger ones and teach them. Because it is easier for children to communicate with each other, than with adults, I think”, - adds the ecoactivist.

Svyatoslav Stepyak says, that it is much easier and more effective to work with children in the field of garbage sorting and ecology.

“A polluted environment harms us first of all. After all, nature is our home and we choose it ourselves, in what conditions should we live?. Problems of environmental pollution are relevant only in Drohobych or even in Ukraine, and all over the world. And the basis is our habits. Changing people's habits is quite difficult, therefore, we try to attract the attention of society with various measures, for example, we are calling for help. But from my own experience, it is the easiest (although for quite a long time) work with children and educate the younger generation, which will build our future”, - notes the ecoactivist.
